Audit Next....

Hello Everyone,

I want to report back that my BEC experience was good, and my fingers are crossed awaiting the scores next month. I am waiting for REGULATION & BEC for next month.

My AUDIT exam is on the 1st of July, and all things going according to plan the final destination would be FARE. I want to welcome Megan & Melissa to the blog; welcome to the world of CPA exam experiences. I wish you both all the best with your upcoming exams.

I also want to welcome Melissa to the Deloitte mentor program, I am sure you would have a lot of fun. I am one of the mentors for the program this year, so I would be seeing you in 2 weeks.

I plan to relax this weekend, and get back to active studies on Monday.

It's Finally Here

Hi everyone.  My name is Missy Setzer and I will be sharing my CPA exam experiences with you for the next couple of months. Similar to what Megan has mentioned, I just graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University-Madison with my BS in Accounting.  I am currently taking one of my last 5 graduate classes and will be receiving my MS in Accounting by December 2010.  I am currently on an extended internship with ParenteBeard LLC in Morristown, NJ.  I was in the tax department for the majority of my stay there and have just recently been moved to the litigation and forensic accounting department.  I am also participating in Deloitte's Summer Mentor Program starting in 2 weeks.  Lastly, I also have a bookkeeping job with a local dentist office in Madison, NJ.

I have been anxious about starting the CPA exam for quite some time and now that it's actually here, reality has set in.  Passing this exam is by far one of my biggest goals in life and after my first review class last night, it's obvious that it will take a lot of hard work and dedicated time in order to properly prepare for this monster of an exam.  My approach will be to take it one day at a time and one class at a time.  I think it's key not to fall behind with the reviews or the homework and to keep a steady routine for studying.  I will be taking the exam in the order of Financial, Audit, Regulation and Business and hopefully be done by November.

If you didn't know, Megan(the other blogger) and I are very close friends.  We have pretty much been in every class together since sophomore year of college and have chosen the same CPA path.  You will probably hear me mention more than once the benefits of going through this process with someone who is just as dedicated and understanding of what it takes to pass this exam.  We have gotten through college studying for every other exam together with awesome results for both of us so why not continue that?

Anyway, I still have to review some of what we went over last night in class.  It's always important to remember the basics.  Have a great holiday weekend everyone!!

Yesterday, 231 FAR and 383 REG scores were released by the AICPA to NASBA from the April / May 2010 testing window. 

If you passed, take some time to celebrate.  You deserve it.

Hi everyone in the accounting world! :) My name is Megan and I am going to be updating you on my journey to being a CPA. I wanted to give you a little background on myself. I am a recent graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison and work part-time at Sax Macy Fromm & Co. Pc in Clifton, NJ in the litigation support department. I started my first review part for the CPA Exam - financial. I will be taking the reviews and exams in the order of financial, audit, regulation than BEC, I think. ha

I received my Becker CPA Review package in the mail a few months ago and I told myself that I would not open it until I was a college graduate. So the other day I opened the box and I will admit I was VERY intimidated!

Last night was my opener course for Financial. Bobby De was the teacher and he was amazing! he made the class so fun and made us all laugh. The 4 hours actually went by pretty quickly for me. The opener material was alot of topics that I have already learned about but it was still A LOT of information. I know it is just going to get harder from here!

So today begins my studying and prep for financial!

Hello Everyone,

I promised myself that I would not look for the score until I take my BEC exam on Saturday 5/29/10, but I ended up being very miserable all day and all night. I finally decided to check this morning, and "No score".....This might mean I would be in what is known as "wave 2" which means no score till June.

June is my Birth month, and the best gift I can get would be a passing score for Reg (which I am waiting for) and BEC which I take tomorrow. Wow, what a wait. So this is my story for today.

Now back to BEC preparation, everything is going according to plan, and I would be writing this non-simulation exam at 8.30am.

Today, 236 AUD, 1080 FAR, and 6589 REG scores were released by the AICPA to NASBA from the April / May 2010 testing window.

Cold Feet....

Hello Everyone,

I just decided to post today; I noticed that BEC, AUD, FAR are almost all out, and all that is left is REG, which would be out either tonight or the next day. I have BEC on saturday morning, and I don't know how I would feel knowing that REG is out, and not checking my score until after BEC on saturday. The wait would kill me (lol).

I really want to get the whole exam stress out of the way and focus more on my career. I seem to be enjoying my job as an Auditor, and I need the perks and title that go with it (CPA). I have drank 4 red bulls today and an extra large dunkin donuts coffee. My eye are wide open for studies.

The weather is so nice today, and I am siting in the office after hours to study, I can't wait to tell this story when it's all over.........

Cheers everyone., like Peter Olinto would say in the becker coarse "the more miserable you are the more likely that you would pass"

Hi fellow bloggers!

It's been another rough week at work...any plans of studying are difficult to follow through with when you have an hour to yourself after getting home from work.  Once you start working, it definitely gets more difficult to find the time to study, unless you are able to work on a few hours of sleep.. Let this be a lesson to you all! Tough it out over the summer if you can!
