You should start seeing BEC & AUD scores.  The AICPA had a slight technology issue yesterday afternoon which delayed the process. It has been fixed.

Failure is not an option!

Don't forget.  We are holding our first ever CPA Exam study session at the Society's offices in Roseland on Thursday, November 18, at 6pm.  There will be a workshop provided by Becker Professional Education on tips and traps to watch out for. This will be followed by a panel discussion with three recent CPAs (Scott Sandford, our very first blogger will be one of the three) who will discuss their experiences and answer questions.   Immediately following, we will break out into study groups and three Becker Professionals will be there to answer any questions you may have.  There is limited seating so register asap at www.njscpa.org/students.  This is free to all of our NJSCPA members and $10 for non-members.

To lie or not to lie....that is the question!

I just received a question from one of our student members and thought I would share this with you.  It actually has come up several times before -- and many others are too embarrased to ask the question.  Here goes:

"Question 8 on the CPA licensure application asks if someone has ever been arrested or  entered into a pre-trial intervention program. If the record of the arrest and entrance into the pretrial intervention program has been expunged, can this be answered as no?"

While the record should have been expunged, it may not have been.  Answer yes and submit an explanation along with the application.  If the State Board discovers that someone has not been truthful on their application, it will be denied.  We have given this advice to many others and they have all received their licenses. 

Honesty is still the best policy! 

Launch Date Set for New CPA Exam

The American Institute of CPAs has scheduled Jan. 1, 2011 as the official launch date of CBT-e, a more technologically modern version of the Uniform CPA Examination.

More Scores Released!

Yesteday, 8668 FAR scores were released by the AICPA to NASBA from the Jul/Aug 2009 testing window. On Monday, 1501 REG scores were released and last Friday, 6640 REG scores were released.

Question for our bloggers

I just received a question today and thought I would throw this out to all of our bloggers.....

"How long is usually needed (after you finish the review course) for studying and sitting for a part of the exam before you take the next review course?"  Thoughts?

Speeding up the process doesn't seem to work!

For those of you who have passed the CPA Exam (congratulations) and are waiting for your "Application for Licensure as a CPA" from the state, please be patient.  Sending in the forms before the State sends them to you can cause confusion and can actually delay the process.  Let the system work on its own time.  I know this is extremely frustrating but we just had a case where the cross-over of information caused a delay of close to 2 1/2 months.  If too much time has passed, give me a call and we can certainly check on your status.  But please don't take the process into your own hands. You are so close -- just relax and know that those three little letters (CPA) will soon appear after your name! 

NASBA Scores

We just received the following message from NASBA: 

Wave 1 is now closed. No more scores will be released until next month. If you didn't receive your score and you sat during the Jul/Aug window, please call 800-CPA-Exam.
