So, the CPA Exam dominated my summer for the most part. While I was able to squeeze in some fun I spent most of my time from June through August with my head stuck in a Becker Review Book. I did the Becker Fastpass program, and I took three parts of the CPA exam in these past two months. Unfortunately I don’t have as much to show for it just yet, but I am still waiting on two scores. As you know I did not pass Auditing, and I am currently waiting on my scores for BEC and REG, which I will find out next week. I felt pretty good after sitting for BEC. As for REG, I will say the Simulations were definitely where I struggled. I think I did decent on the multiple choice questions, but I hope my scores on the Simulations aren’t enough to stop me from passing. I am hoping for the best next week.
Anyway, I currently have a couple days of down time from the exam, but in the meantime I began my full time job. I started working this past Tuesday at Sobel & Co., and I am thrilled to be there and certainly cannot wait to get my career started in the accounting profession. However, this will definitely impact my study habits for the CPA exam. Finding the hours to study now will definitely become more difficult now that I am working full time, but I know that I will have to put in early morning and late evening hours studying to get through what I need to. In addition, I am very glad that I am done with all the lectures and that I am at least very familiar with each section. It should make studying next time around much easier. After I receive my scores back on these last two parts I can make a decision about which part to focus my studies on during September so I can sit for my next exam somewhere in the beginning of October. One other thing now is that I am definitely going to give myself more time to study than the last time. While the fastpass course was nice in the summer it was extremely fast paced, and to some extent I do not think I was as prepared as I would have liked to be by the time my testing day came around. Now that I have some experience with the exam and know what is expected of me, I am not going to sit again until I truly know that I have all the knowledge I need to pass.
I will catch back up with you all next week with some information on my scores, and my plans for September. Good luck to everyone waiting on results!
Joe
